  How many JW Families do you know of who hate each other and shun each other? "Religion of Hatred" 1.a

  when you were attending the kingdom halls did you see feuds and hate filled wars against members working on the new personality?

  how strong were the elders in keeping their halls filled with love not hatred, jesus said everyone would be filled with love, there was no room for hatred in jesus christ's view of how christians ought to act!

  when you see children shunning parents, parents shunning children, aunts, uncles, grandma and grandpas displaying qualities jesus said were "instant tickets to hell" why do the jws keep attending the meetings if their filled with hate?

  I knew two sisters, actual sisters, who did not speak to each other for years. They were both married to elders and both acted very important. Their actions did make me question what they were doing.

  I also knew of a few families in our congregation who were having feuds so much so that our congregation was disbanded and everyone was split up and sent to other congregations. They all continued exactly as before. The elders stayed elders!

  All of this had a big impact on me and added to my awakening.

  What instructions came with the new brochure?

  like the title says, i'm wondering if anyone here knows what instructions came with the new brochure about returning to jehovah.

  did each person get a certain number at the convention?

  are they to be handed out at will, up to each publisher's individual discretion?

  Can't wait for mine to be left lying around by hubby when he gets back from assembly. So great that I know what's coming before he does. He keeps leaving magazines lying around. Even when I open the boot of the car I have 'what does the bible really teach' staring at me. In the glove compartment there is a novel about blood. He 'accidentally' plays a drama CD in the car until I roll my eyes.

  Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...

  greetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.

  and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.

  but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

  The GB convinced the R&F that THEY got it wrong and they believed them! After having some discussions with my mum some years ago she disagreed with me and I was amazed that she was denying it. I scoured the Internet and was thrilled when I found I was right, that I wasn't going mad, and luckily I had the 1968 bound volume. I studied it, couldn't wait to show my mum.

  I took the book with me, started the subject again, then plonked the book on the table, there; she saw the title WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO 1975 and her mouth fell open. She didn't say anything but read quietly to the end of the article. I was pacing round the kitchen, my stomach churning. She finished reading and proceeded to make excuses for the article. We argued and argued.

  I also told her about the history of the org; prior false predictions, Russell's using the pyramid to back up bible chronology. I showed her a picture of his gravestone. She said his family could have done that! I told her that in 1921 Rutherford said Millions Now Living Will Never Die! They all are dead. She ran off crying in the end, she couldn't cope with everything I was saying. I had to back off.

  In hindsight I said too much at once, but I needed to tell her everything I had learned. Much as a witness does when they first find out about ' the truth'. They have that zeal to tell everyone. I felt like that but had no one to share it with. I had to keep it all in and stifle it.

  I hate that I was raised as a witness and would love to know what it was like to have had a normal life.

  My trip to the landfill

  it was with great pleasure and with mrs hosers blessing that i took all of our bound volumes and other obsolete jehovah's witness books to the local landfill.

  i threw them into the garbage pile and watched as a crawler tractor drove over them to pack them down.

  Yes nobody wants the old bound volumes in their houses. I have a whole row of them in a cabinet in the living room. 😬 My husband got them from a kind brother who didn't want them in his house! So I got them in mine and have to look at them every day. Ironically I don't think he has looked at any since the day he got them years ago. I though have spent many hours checking things on jwfacts and verifying them in those volumes.

  I will have to wait till hubby dies before I get rid of them, but will hang on to 1968 watchtower for proof about 1975.

  You say it was the mindset of many? No it was the mindset of ALL. The R&F didn't make it up, it came from the top. We were all misled.

  I also was a teenager in 1975. As someone else mentioned, it was the build up to 1975 in their books and other literature, starting with the freedom in the sons of God book 1966 (my mum still has that book).

  It was all anyone talked about. I left school at 15 because of it. I remember going to friends' congregations and some of them had countdown charts on the wall!

  The 1968 watchtower asked "Why are you looking forward to 1975". I wasn't really, I was scared, I didn't want anything to happen, but if it was going to as I was being led to believe then I wanted to be in what I thought was the 'only' place to be to survive. Looking back it all seems so ridiculous now that so many people could have believed this. We were deliberately led to believe this by their literature. It makes me mad when they all deny it was ever said.

  That was the main reason I left. The constant denial that they never said it!

  i am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.

  all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

  How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?

  it seems incredibly difficult.

  those who leave the org.

  (or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.

  Some years ago I dared to ask a few questions to my best friend for years. We were maid of honour at each other's weddings. We brought up our children together from babies. In and out of each other's houses. I had friends around every Friday evening. They came with all their kids, for years. Because I questioned a few things she stopped coming round. Just stopped, no further contact. It's not possible to keep friends once they know how you think.

  I was not disfellowshipped just stopped going.

  Going back about 30 years ago, a group of young witnesses from my congregation went to London. They were staying at a hotel for a few days. I and one of my friends wished we had gone too but couldn't afford to stay in the hotel.

  A friend of ours who had gone to London arranged for us to stay at a sister's who they had met in the museum. We never got to meet this sister but she left us her keys at the museum with instructions to get to her flat. She didn't know us but trusted us because we were sisters.

  Quite amazing really.

  How strong were you in “The Truth?”

  when you were still asleep in the watchtower organization and had no idea of ttatt.

  what would you have done if you were in a serious accident and all of a sudden you woke up in the emergency hospital room with all the brothers and sisters at your side and your spouse cheering you on to be faithful to jehovah.

  then the doctor comes up to you and tells you that you are about to go into surgery because there is no time to lose and the only way to live is to take a blood transfusion ?

  So many have died, very sad. Also they would have believed they wouldn't have had to wait long to be resurrected as ' the end' was so close!
